PHENIX CITY — Hewitt-Trussville Softball traveled to Phenix City this weekend for the season opening tournament. The Huskies advanced to the semifinal round and went 4-1 over the weekend. The team will remain on the road this week. On Thursday, Coach Taylor Burt’s squad will travel to Prattville. Over the weekend, the Huskies will compete in the Wallace State Tournament in Hanceville.
Weekend Game Recaps:
Hewitt-Trussville 6 Auburn 5
The Huskies scored three runs in the third inning and two runs in the fourth inning to pick up the win. Hayden Neugent got the win in the circle. Hannah Borden had two RBI’s. Katelyn Murphy went 2-2 at the plate.
Hewitt-Trussville 22 Park Crossing 2
The HT offense exploded in game two scoring 10 runs in the first inning. Kaitlyn Hughes was the winning pitcher. Hannah Dorsett went 2-2 and scored four runs. Molly Cobb had two RBI’s and scored three times. Hannah Borden went 3-4 with three RBI’s. Rylee Tyree went 3-4 with three RBI’s.
Hewitt-Trussville 5 Moody 2
Molly Cobb and Kaitlyn Hughes combined for the win. Cobb went 2-3 at the plate with two RBI’s. Hannah Borden was also 2-3 with two RBI’s.
Hewitt-Trussville 8 Central Phenix City 3
The Huskies erupted for eight runs in the sixth inning to get the comeback win. Hayden Neugent pitched a complete game. Hannah Dorsett went 3-4 and scored twice. Kailey Walters went 2-3 with three RBI’s.
Alabama Christian Academy 4 Hewitt-Trussville 3
The Huskies fell in the semifinals to the tournament champions. Maddie Katona went 2-2 at the plate and scored twice.
