SPRINGVILLE — A late effort by the Hewitt-Trussville team was enough to secure an 8-5 victory on Tuesday’s game against Springville.
Kenleigh Cahalan provided a much needed triple on a 3-1 count that scored two runs in the top of the seventh and allowed the Huskies to pull ahead.
Kaitlyn Hughes had the mound for Hewitt-Trussville for most of the game. Hughes allowed for nine hits and five runs over six innings and struck out six. Molly Cobb pitched one inning and managed to provide the Huskies with the last three outs they needed to win the game.
The Huskies had 13 hits in the game with Maddie Katona, Kailey Walters, Hannah Borden and Cobb making multiple hits for Hewitt-Trussville.
Springville had nine hits in the game that provided five runs.
