CALERA — Weather permitting, Monday, March 11, the Alabama Department of Transportation will begin bridge removal on US 31 over I-65 in Calera. The bridge removal will start at Exit 231.
From 11 p.m. until 5 a.m., the I-65 southbound traffic will be directed to use the off ramp at Exit 231 and then back on to the on ramp at Exit 231. Southbound removal will take place March 11 and March 12. The northbound removal will take place March 13 and March 14.
The same process will be used March 17 through March 21 to finish up the work.
State troopers and Calera City Police officers will be used to direct traffic.
Motorists are requested to consider using alternate routes, adjust arrival/departure times, observe work zone speed limits and other work zone signs, and use extreme caution in this area.
