St. Clair County Schools made the announce via social media on Thursday morning and cited the potential of strong storms, forecast to begin at 3 p.m., as the reason for the cancellation. St. Clair County Schools said that they would be providing updates as needed.
Meteorologists said environmental conditions today and tonight are favorable for tornadic supercells. A new severe squall line has developed over the AR-KA-LA-TX region could serve as a lift for storms in our area. This system is ahead of a Pacific front/dry line that will be the primary source of lift, which combined with rising temperatures, will give us the potential for showers and thunderstorms.
Due to the potential of strong storms forecasted beginning at 3pm, we are cancelling all after-school activities. This includes Afterschool Care. Please stay weather aware and if any other updates are needed, we will be sending them out to you. Thank you and have a safe night!
