BIRMINGHAM — The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch until 9 p.m. for the following counties:
Autauga, Barbour, Bibb, Bullock, Coosa, Dallas, Elmore, Greene, Hale, Lee, Lowndes, Macon, Marengo, Montgomery, Pike, Randolph, Russell, Talladega and Tallapoosa.
Meteorologists are tracking strong thunderstorms that could produce strong winds and pea size hail. There have been reports of hail in Piedmont in Calhoun County, Tuscaloosa County near Shelton State Community College, in Riverchase and Westover in Shelby County, Childersburg in Talladega County, Randolph in Bibb County and Wedgeworth in Hale County.
Storm reports confirmed multiple trees were downed in Shelby County, mostly in Harpersville.
Trees and power lines were reported down in Bibb County on Tucker Pass near 6 Mile Run.
Trees were reported down in Tallapoosa County at Martin Dam.
Trees were reported down in Elmore County along Bradley Road.
Severe storms are possible tonight through 9 p.m. for much of Central Alabama, including eastern counties.
