TRUSSVILLE — HT varsity softball had an 11-7 victory over Helena Tuesday, April 2.
Hayden Neugent had the mount for the Huskies for the majority of the game. She went six and two-thirds innings, giving up seven runs on eight hits and striking out eight. Molly Cobb pitched for one-third of an inning. She secured the last out of the game, securing a win for Hewitt-Trussville.
The game was stored in the bottom of the fifth inning. Each team had scored four runs when Crystal Maze grounded out, scoring a run and giving the Huskies the lead.
The Huskies added six runs in the sixth inning. The offensive onslaught was powered by Kenleigh Cahalan, Molly Cobb, Crystal Maze and Kailey Walters.
Helena answered with three runs in the seventh inning, but it was not enough to close the gap.
The Huskies put up 12 hits for the game thanks to the efforts of Kenleigh Cahalan, Maddie Katona, Cobb and Anyce Harvey.
Each team had two errors for the game.
