SPRINGVILLE — A home run in the bottom of the eighth inning decided things in Springville’s favor against Moody Wednesday. The Tigers toppled Moody 2-1.
The score was tied with each team having a run when Makalyn Kyser dropped a walk-off home run to advance the Tigers to two runs and win the game.
Top-notch pitching can be claimed by both sides. Emily Robinson struck out 11 for the Tigers, and Madison Sanders struck out three for Moody.
Robinson took the win for Springville, giving up four hits and one run, striking out 11 and walking one. Robinson pitched for eight innings.
Sanders had the loss for Moody but had an impressive showing for the day. She allowed seven hits and two runs, struck out 3 and had zero walks. Sanders pitched for 7 and one-third innings.
Mckenzie Brown led the Tigers in hits going 2-for-4 at the plate. Kyser provided Springville with their lone home run of the day, but it was the home run that won the game.
Springville had one error in the game.
Moody had no errors in the game.
