BIRMINGHAM — The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a wind advisory for eight counties.
Marion, Lamar, Fayette, Winston, Walker, Blount, Etowah and Cherokee counties are in the advisory until 7 p.m. Thursday, April 11.
Gusty winds up to 35 mph are expected and the NWS warns this system could cause power outages and fallen tree limbs. In addition, trees with weak roots could be blown down due to the wet ground across the region.
Another system is heading this way and could produce severe thunderstorms across central Alabama early Sunday morning through Sunday afternoon. Tornadoes and damaging winds are possible.
