MONROE COUNTY, Miss. — At least five people were killed late Saturday, April 13, after a tornado hit southern Monroe County, Mississippi. At least three people were hurt.
The National Weather Service in Memphis, Tennessee, said in addition to the fatalities, rescue efforts are underway with entrapments reported. Several damage reports were received overnight.

The National Weather Service in Memphis surveyed damage in Hamilton, Mississippi, Sunday. It found damage to numerous homes and yards, as well as trees down across the region.
The same system then moved into Alabama, causing damage and power outages.
