BIRMINGHAM — Urgent Care for Children (UC4C), a physician-owned pediatric urgent care provider, has completed a multi-million dollar round of Series A financing from McKinney Capital and Timberline Holdings.
The funding will support Urgent Care for Children’s continued growth and enhance its pediatric urgent care
clinic operations throughout the southern United States, according to Dr. Allury Arora, founder and chief medical officer.
“We founded Urgent Care for Children with a vision to provide quality care, convenient care, and continuity of care to
Birmingham’s pediatric patients,” Arora said. “Over the past two years, we have experienced tremendous growth and built a strong
reputation, and the finalization of this round of funding enables us to continue that momentum as we expand our
footprint and enhance operations.”
Urgent Care for Children intends to utilize the funding to scale its operations by increasing clinic capacity and opening additional clinic locations, as well as investing in systems that will support the clinic’s corporate structure and operations. UC4C has appointed J. Bannon Thorpe as its CEO to lead this rapid scale up. Thorpe previously served as a vice president at Regions Financial.
“Urgent Care for Children is filling a huge gap in the community’s medical landscape and supplementing the care offered by local pediatric practices by operating after hours and on weekends,” said Thorpe.
J.T. Price, CEO of McKinney Capital, will join Urgent Care for Children’s Board of Directors and serve as an advisor to the clinic’s physician-led ownership team.
“Dr. Arora and the UC4C team have proven that both parents and pediatricians want a high-quality pediatric specialist urgent care option,” Price said. “Urgent Care for Children’s excellent local reputation, paired with its strong medical leadership, attracted us to invest in this concept. We are excited to support these entrepreneurs as they grow Urgent Care for Children to serve even more parents and patients and create jobs in our communities.”
Urgent Care for Children opened its first clinic, located on Highway 280, in 2017, and opened its Trussville location in 2018. Urgent Care for Children plans to open several additional clinic locations throughout the Birmingham metro and across the state of Alabama. The company runs Alabama’s first physician-owned and operated, and one of the state’s highest patient-rated, pediatric urgent care facilities. Urgent Care for Children’s team of pediatricians and pediatric nurse practitioners offer acute diagnostic and treatment care for children with non-life-threatening medical needs after-hours and on weekends, 365 days a year.
