Regulation play and two overtime periods were not enough to decide a winner Monday night. Hewitt-Trussville and Spain Park were locked up 3-3, so the game went to penalty kicks. The Huskies prevailed in kicks 4-2 to pick up the victory. With the win, the Huskies improved to 9-6-3 overall and 3-2 in 7A Area 6. Hewitt-Trussville will travel to Mountain Brook Wednesday night for the final regular season game. The winner of that contest will qualify for the AHSAA playoffs.
Coach Nick Holt’s team got off to a fast start Monday as Gabe Kirk and Eric Besse scored to give HT a 2-0 lead. Spain Park would score before halftime to cut the lead in half. In the second half, the Jaguars scored two goals to take a 3-2 lead. Eric Besse scored for the second time to tie the score. In penalty kicks, Ford Burke made a few huge stops to secure the win.
