BIRMINGHAM — According to Birmingham Police Officer Rodarius Mauldin, an investigation is underway after a man was found shot to death early Sunday morning.
Mauldin said that detectives are conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Sunday at approximately 6 a.m.
The victim’s identity will be released following the notification of next of kin.
“Officers from the West Precinct were dispatched to the 1100 Block of Detroit Street on a call of person down,” Mauldin said. “Upon arrival officers found the victim unresponsive lying in a grassy area suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Birmingham Fire and Rescue reported to the scene and pronounced the victim deceased as a result of his injuries.”
No suspects are in custody. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
