MONTGOMERY — Hewitt-Trussville won game one against Sparkman in the 7A Softball State Championship tournament by a score of 7-4 Saturday afternoon. The next game, set to start 15 minutes after Game 1, will decide it all.
The Huskies wasted no time getting on the board thanks to Kenleigh Cahalan. She doubled on a 1-1 count driving in three runs.
Hayden Neugent had the win for the Huskies. She gave up four runs on three hits and struck out two. Neugent had the mound for six and one-third innings. Kaitlyn Hughes pitched two-thirds of an inning for the Huskies.
Hewitt-Trussville Huskies Varsity had 13 hits in the Game 1. Crystal Maze, Cahalan, Abigail Dorsett and Hannah Borden each had multiple hits for Hewitt-Trussville. Borden, Dorsett, Cahalan and Maze all had two hits to lead Hewitt-Trussville.
