From The Trussville Tribune staff reports
TRUSSVILLE — Sheepdog Firearms Training Center will offer a free Stop the Bleed class on Sunday, May 26, 2019.
According to a press release by Sheepdog Firearms, May is the first ever National Stop the Bleed Month. In many cases, bleeding is a preventable cause of death. The ability to recognize life-threatening bleeding and the ability to intervene effectively can save a person’s life.
The training course will teach bleeding control techniques to the public. The free course will be from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. The class is limited to 30 participants. To register, visit www.sheepdog-firearms.com or call (205) 864-1700.
One of the goals of the Stop the Bleed initiative is to turn civilians into “immediate responders” — a term that describes the first person at the scene of an injury. This person is rarely a trained medical provider. Stop the Bleed is a national public awareness campaign.
