NEW YORK — A happy misdiagnosis means good news for a 42-year-old New York woman who believed she had a malignant tumor.
Rachel Palma started having difficulties last year when she couldn’t remember words and attempted to telephone relatives that had passed away. Also, Palma started having hallucinations and started to drop things, according to WVTM.
An MRI scan indicated a small-sized lesion that was located on the left side of her brain. The obvious conclusion was that she had a malignant tumor, said WVTM.
According to WVTM, when doctors went in to remove what they thought was a tumor they discovered that Palma had a tapeworm instead. The discovery changed everything for Palma, who will now likely make a full recovery.
“I stopped asking questions and started celebrating and making the most out of life,” said Palma. “Because in an instant, it can be taken away.”
