VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Virginia Beach Police released the identity of the 12 people killed in a workplace shooting on Friday, May 30, 2019, according to The Virginian-Pilot.
The 12 were killed when DeWayne Craddock, an employee that turned in his two weeks notice just hours before the shooting, opened fire, according to investigators. Craddock was shot in a shootout with police and died on the way to the hospital.
Eleven of the people killed were public works employees. The 12th was a contractor. Four people were seriously wounded, including a police officer that was saved by his bulletproof vest.
Here is a list of the victims:
LaQuita C. Brown was a public works employee for four years.
Tara Welch Gallagher was a public works employee for six years.
Mary Louise Gayle was a public works employee for 24 years.
Alexander Mikhail Gusev was a public works employee for nine years.
Katherine A. Nixon was a public utilities employee for 10 years.
Richard H. Nettleton was a public utilities employee for 28 years.
Kelly Rapp was a public works engineer for 11 months.
Ryan Ketih Cox was a public utilities account clerk for 12 years.
Joshua O. Hardy was a public utilities engineering technician for four years.
Michelle “Missy” Langer worked as a public utilities administrative assistant for 12 years.
Robert “Bobby” Williams worked as a public utilities special projects coordinator for 41 years.
Herbert “Bert” Snelling was a contractor for the city of Virginia Beach.
