BIRMINGHAM — A homicide investigation is underway after police in Birmingham said a man was stabbed during an assault and died from his injuries while in route to the hospital.
The incident occurred on Wednesday at approximately 4:18 p.m., according to Sgt. Johnny Williams.
Clarence Farley, 61, of Birmingham, Alabama, was killed.
“Officers from the West Precinct responded to 1212 33rd Street Southwest to investigate a report of an assault,” Williams said. “Upon arrival, officers located the victim on the ground unresponsive next to a vehicle in the parking lot. The victim was suffering from an apparent stab wound.”
Birmingham Fire and Rescue reported to the scene and transported the victim to UAB Hospital for treatment.
According to Williams, investigators learned that the victim had succumbed to his injury while he was in transport to the hospital. The victim was pronounce deceased upon arrival.
“The altercation with the victim and suspect appears to be domestic,” Williams said. “A suspect has been taken into custody in connection with this case.”
