AUBURN, Ala. (AP) — The defense attorney for the teen accused in the deadly crash of Auburn University sports announcer Rob Bramblett and his wife, Paula, deny their client committed any crime.
According to reports, a lawyer for 16-year-old Johnston Edward Taylor said the wreck which killed the Bramblett’s was a tragedy but that his client simply fell asleep at the wheel. Attorney Tommy Spina said his client wasn’t impaired at the time of the crash.
Taylor is charged with manslaughter in the wreck, which happened May 25 in Auburn. Authorities allege Taylor was driving 91 mph and had traces of the psychoactive part of marijuana in his system at the time.
Spina says Taylor hadn’t slept in a long time before the wreck and hadn’t used drugs or alcohol in the hours beforehand.
