BIRMINGHAM – Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to reports of an active shooter in Birmingham Thursday.
According to authorities, the deputies were dispatched to the 1100 block of Utica Place in Birmingham on a report of an active shooter. Deputies arrived on scene and requested the Air Support Unit and K9 to assist in locating the suspect. A perimeter was set and Star 1 was able to identify and maintain a visual on the suspect to lead deputies to take him into custody.
Law enforcement said Ronnie Colvin was charged with discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling, assault 3, menacing, and reckless endangerment. He had additional outstanding warrants of failure to appear, attempting to elude and public intoxication.
