PRATTVILLE, Ala. (AP) — An Alabama man accused of strangling, beating and stomping a woman has been charged with murder in her death.
News outlets report sheriff’s deputies in Autauga County responded to a domestic dispute Sunday afternoon. The Montgomery Advertiser reports deputies found 54-year-old James Warren Thomas, Jr. “covered in blood.” The body of 61-year-old Cynthia Harmon Waldroup was found inside the Marbury home.
Court records state Thomas admitted to stomping Waldroup with his “bare feet.” An autopsy report says she died from strangulation and blunt force injuries.
Thomas is being held in the Autauga Metro Jail on a $150,000 bond. Assistant district attorney Sarah Speakes has asked for the bond to be raised citing the nature of the crime.
It’s unclear whether Thomas had an attorney who could comment on his behalf.
