HUNTSVILLE — The Huntsville Police Department said a well-known businesswoman in Alabama was arrested on a DUI charge and they say she tried to bribe her way out of it.
Ann Paget Pizitz, 40, is now facing a charge of bribery of a public servant, according to a report by WAFF in Huntsville.
Pizitz, who is the co-founder of the Melt restaurant franchise, was placed in the Madison County Jail on a $6,000 bond.
Police said the initial call came in on the night of Saturday, Aug. 3, 2019. A concerned citizen reported a person driving erratically in downtown Huntsville. The officer pulled over Pizitz at AC Hotel. The officer said she smelled of alcohol and could not complete a field sobriety test. The officer reported Pizitz refused a breathalyzer test. At that time, she was taken into custody. But, the officer said Pizitz offered to pay police $1,000 to let her go.
