BIRMINGHAM — The Birmingham Police Department announced the arrest of a suspect in connection to an officer-involved shooting that happened on Friday, Sept. 20, 2019.
Demetrius Walker, 28, of Birmingham, is charged with three counts of attempted murder.
Police responded to the area of Gate City and the Harris Homes Housing community to investigate a Shot Spotter call, around 9:21 p.m., Friday. Officers found shell casings and heard gunshots as they were searching the area.
Walker was located near railroad tracks and officers pursued him into a wooded area. Search K9s and the StarOne helicopter responded. StarOne located Walker and directed K9 units to his location where he was taken into custody.
No officers were hurt.
Walker was booked into the Jefferson County Jail on bonds totaling $450,000.
