Sarah Elizabeth Bechtold, 79, passed peacefully at her home in Springville, Alabama, on Oct. 22, 2019.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Sarah had an amazing “green thumb’ and could make just about anything grow. She loved working in her flower beds and was a yard sale expert who could spot a bargain a mile away.
She was an avid story teller, but in her later years she seemed to draw more pleasure in hearing from her family tell stories about her. She was always up for an adventure and was never lost a day in her life even if she had no idea where she was. She had an infectious laugh and a “sparkling” sense of humor that kept her family on their toes.
Mrs. Bechtold is survived by her husband, Raymond Bechtold; sons, Bruce Spinks (Dena), Michael Potts (Irene), and Raymond Bechtold (Ashlee); daughter, Deborah Schefeno; grandchildren, Melanie Jennings, Bubba Poe, Lisa Poe, Mandy Payne, Kim Wilson, Jennifer Payton, Laura Beth Spinks, Katherine Spinks, Emilee Bechtold, Harlee Bechtold, and Nigel Bechtold. She has thirteen great-grandchildren, six great-great- grandchildren, and one brother, Tommy Stokes. She is preceded in death by her father, Thomas Stokes; mother, Thomasina Stokes; son, Terry Spinks; grandchildren, Tiffany Spinks, Larkin Poe, and Kelly Poe.
Visitation will be held Friday, Oct. 25, 2019, at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home in Trussville, Alabama, from 5-7 p.m. Funeral service will be held at Jefferson Memorial on Saturday, Oct. 26, 2019 at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Forest Hill cemetery in Birmingham, Alabama.
