TRUSSVILLE — Hewitt-Trussville High School and Trussville’s Alternative Learning Center (ALC) are on a code orange lockdown after authorities received information about a potential threat, on Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2019.
Police Chief Eric Rush said a code orange means the perimeter of the school must be secured.
“There is no active threat, at this point,” said Rush. “This is a precautionary measure based on the threat the student made.”
Authorities responding to the situation said the threat was directed at a teacher, from a student at the ALC. Police said it is unclear if the teacher the threat was directed towards is a teacher at the ALC or at Hewitt-Trussville High School, so both schools are under a code orange.
Rush said a family member alerted authorities about the threat made by a 16-year-old female student. Police are currently searching for the student and have reason to believe she may have traveled out of the area.
