WEAVER — The Weaver Police Department is asking parents in the northeastern Alabama town to check over their children’s candy after a child was given a Tootsie Roll that contained a sewing needle embedded in it on Halloween night in the Buckhorn area of Weaver.
The child was not harmed
The department said it was contacted after a parent found the needle inside a Tootsie Roll.
“The Child was not harmed, and thankfully the parents of the child found the needle while checking the candy before consumption,” the police department posted on Facebook. “Since this candy was given out in the Weaver area we are advising all parents to CAREFULLY VISUALLY INSPECT the candy your children received last night and if anything suspicious is found contact Weaver PD immediately.”
The department advised that even if nothing suspicious is found, those in the area should dispose of any candy immediately.
Anyone with information should call Weaver police at 256-820-1766 or 256-820-0530.
