BIRMINGHAM — The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a woman’s claim that she was assaulted and robbed by man she met online.
According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department, the woman called police at 5:51 a.m. on Sunday to report that she was assaulted in the parking lot of a fast-food restaurant in the 1600 block of Center Point Road.
The suspect, a male, convinced the victim to drive to a park where he assaulted her and then stole her vehicle, which was then discovered in a nearby parking lot.
Detectives are looking at video and digital evidence to identify the suspect.
