PINSON — Pinson-Valley High School Principal Michael Turner was selected as the District 5 Principal of the Year by the Alabama Association of Secondary School Principals.
Turner is also one of three principals in the state, in the running for the state of Alabama’s Principal of the Year award. He completed an interview on Tuesday, Nov. 12, and the winner will be announced sometime in January 2020.
He said his accomplishments were made possible because of the students and teachers at Pinson-Valley High School.
“The school itself is amazing and we’re very fortunate to have such great teachers and such great students,” said Turner. “We try to meet the needs of each and every student at Pinson-Valley High School and I’m very fortunate to serve as principal.”
Turner’s dedication to students and their success has been evident throughout his nearly 20 years in education. Before coming to Pinson, he was the principal at Leeds High School for four years. The longtime educator has served as a high school teacher, coach, assistant principal and principal.
