HOOVER — The Leeds High School Pride of the Greenwave marching band took to Hoover High School on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2019, for the Alabama State Marching Championships.
There, the Greenwave wrapped up the competition with a fourth place finish in the Class 4A Best in Class category.
Leeds finished behind Brooks, Haleyville and champion Oak Grove.
Band Placement Awards
State Champion 1st Place: Oak Grove – 86
2nd Place: Haleyville – 83.44
3rd Place: Brooks – 82.96
4th Place: Leeds – 82.48
5th Place: Ashford – 79.9
6th Place: Priceville – 76.78
The Leeds marching band has a long history of excellence dating back to 1957.
Throughout the past decade, the band has finished as Bands of America Class A Regional runner up, USBands Southern States Group 2A Champions, Hoover Invitational Class 2 and 3A Champions and Class 3A Champions at the Sparks in the Park. In addition, they have performed in the Governor’s Inaugural Parade.
The Alabama State Marching Championships were held for all seven high school classifications. Bands in the 1A, 2A, 4A and 7A classifications competed at Hoover, and bands in the 3A, 5A and 6A classifications competed at Pelham High School.
The event was judged by an out-of-state panel.
