BIRMINGHAM — Three suspects were taken into custody late Wednesday night after they exchanged gunfire with a Birmingham police officer.
The three men were taken into custody following the incident and booked into the Birmingham County Jail. No officers were wounded in the gunfight.
The exchange of gunfire between the three suspects and the officer broke out in Birmingham around 9:40 p.m. after authorities noticed a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 2100 block of 30th Avenue North. As the officers approached the vehicle, the three suspects exited and one fired a shot at an officer.
One of the officers returned fire and grazed the arm of one of the men.
The wounded suspect refused to be taken to the hospital, per media reports.
The names of the three men have yet to be released.
