HELENA — Four teams of Huskies made the youth football championship games this weekend with three walking away as league champs.
The Jefferson Shelby Youth Football League (JSYFL) held their championship games at Helena High School on Saturday.
The four teams from Trussville playing in the championship games were the 4th grade team, which finished as runner up in their division and the 1st/2nd grade, 3rd grade and 5th grade teams, which all won the championship in their respective divisions.
The 3rd Grade Huskies finished the season 10-0 after beating Vestavia, 22-0, this past Saturday in the JSYFL championship. Jack Floyd scored three times and Bowman Dahlke ran in all three extra points to lead the Huskies.
Floyd completed two passes both to Drew Gibson, which included a huge throw on 4th and 6 leading to their final scoring drive to put the game away. The Husky defense, led by captains Searcy Ellis and Hunter Futrell, was the story all year with their sixth shutout of the season. The 3rd grade Husky outscored their opponents 336-50 during their perfect season.
