CLAY — Former Clay-Chalkville football state champion Nico Collins had himself a day during Michigan’s 39-14 victory over Indiana this past Saturday.
Collins recorded six receptions for a career-high 165 yards with three touchdowns as the Wolverines scored 32 unanswered points to run away from the Hoosiers in the tune-up for the upcoming Ohio State game. This was his first career 100-yard game.
Collins, a 6-foot-4 junior, has 31 receptions for 649 receiving yards with seven touchdowns this season. In his three years at Michigan, Collins has 72 receptions for 1,308 yards with 13 touchdowns.
“The man is a beast,” Michigan linebacker Josh Uche told MLive.com. “Everyone in the organization knew that, but anyone can be a practice All-American, but to see it come to fruition on game days is magical. Just knowing what someone is capable of doing and seeing them execute it is great to see.”
Collins recorded 2,000 yards over his final two seasons at Clay-Chalkville. He become Alabama’s top-ranked recruit at receiver during that span.
