TRUSSVILLE — Since Memorial Day 2016, Roy Brook has been showing his patriotism by showing up to events with a United States flag. He goes to memorial services and community events.
Brook has been known to stand for hours, in honor of veterans and in support of families who have lost loved ones. He calls it the American Flag Project.

Although most events he attends are in the Birmingham-metro, there are some travel challenges for Brook, who is retired.
“Sometimes I do go to Tuscaloosa, Auburn, and other way-out areas,” Brooke said. “This limits what I can do for the rest of the time.”
After some convincing from friends, Brook decided to start a GoFundMe account for those who would like to contribute to the American Flag Project.
“I love what I do and appreciate all of you who have encouraged me,” he said. “I will keep doing what I do by showing my support for all of you.”
