BIRMINGHAM — The Birmingham Police Department announced the arrest of a teen charged in a Sunday, Nov. 24 homicide at the Euphoria Sports Bar & Hookah in west Birmingham.
Laeric Kejuandre Bailey, 19, of Birmingham, is charged in connection to the death of Fredrick Asher, 25, of Florence.
Police were first called to the scene of a shooting on 15th Street West at around 12:30 a.m. Officers found four victims with gunshot wounds. One of them, Asher, had life-threatening injuries.
Asher was taken to UAB Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators later learned a fifth victim arrived at the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
Detectives believe the shooting happened after patrons were made to leave a club after a fight. They said the suspect drove past the location in a dark vehicle and began shooting at patrons as they stood in the parking lot.
According to AL.com, Bailey is also awaiting trial in the 2017 Center Point church carnival shooting that wounded three teenagers and a child under the age of one at the Cathedral of the Cross A.O.H. Church of God. A pregnant woman received minor injuries after she was stampeded by people fleeing the gunfire. Nearly 900 people were at the event when a fight broke out outside of the church and gunfire followed.
The shooting occurred during the 10th annual Spring Carnival extravaganza.
Bailey is currently in the Jefferson County Jail with no bond. He is facing a capital murder charge.
