TUSCALOOSA COUNTY — Two Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s deputies were injured on Friday after they were allegedly dragged by a suspect’s vehicle during a traffic stop.
According to media reports, the incident occurred on North Hagler Road just north of Hembree Road in Tuscaloosa County between Samantha and Windham Springs. There is scant information regarding the incident but it’s alleged that the deputies initiated a traffic stop, where they learned that the individual had warrants out for his arrest.
The suspect then fled, wounding the two officers in the process. According to media reports, one or both of the officers was dragged by the suspect’s vehicle before it departed the road and crashed into a ditch.
The deputies were taken to DCH Regional Hospital in Tuscaloosa and are expected to be fine.
An investigation is underway.
