BIRMINGHAM — The man sought in the connection of a Wednesday night kidnapping, robbery and sexual assault in Birmingham was captured on Friday morning and booked into the Jefferson County Jail.
Tadarrius Lawaun Smith, 21, of Mulga, is charged with first-degree sodomy, first-degree kidnapping, first-degree robbery and theft.
Authorities state that at around 10:23 p.m. on Wednesday, Smith allegedly kidnapped a female at gunpoint at the 1700 block of 11th Place South and forced her into a vehicle where in which they drove to different locations for the purpose of drawing money from the victim’s credit cards. The victim was then sexually assaulted before being let go.
According to media reports, Smith was arrested on Friday after he showed up in court for a different charge related to theft and illegally possessing a firearm. He was attending a hearing regarding whether his probation should be revoked as a result of those crimes.
Smith is being held without bond.
