BIRMINGHAM — The National Weather Service (NWS) in Birmingham has issued a Special Weather Statement concerning freezing concerns in our area.
The NWS said below-freezing conditions along with residual moisture on local roadways could cause travel hazards late Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.
Counties included in the statement are Jefferson, St. Clair, Marion, Lamar, Fayette, Winston, Walker, Blount, Etowah and Cherokee.
Drivers are cautioned about patchy ice on some roads, bridges and overpasses.
Temperatures are expected to rise above freezing by 9 a.m.
