OZARK — An Ozark police officer who was shot on Thursday responding to a call remains in critical condition as of Saturday evening.
Officer Samuel Yoh was shot around 10 p.m. in the 100 block of Briar Hill Court. As police were responding to a call, Yoh saw a man walking in the road holding a rifle. Yoh exited the vehicle, and the suspect, Bradley Cutchens, 23, immediately opened fire and hit Yoh multiple times.
Yoh was transported to Southeast Health in Dothan where he remains in critical condition.
A GoFundMe account has since been opened with a goal to raise $20,000. The account has raised $6,025 as of Saturday night.
“Known as a lover of laughter, food, and service, Officer Yoh joined the OPD in March of 2019,” the GoFundMe account reads. “Officer Yoh and his wife, Missy, have a blended family with 3 children, ages 11,13, and 15. They are expecting a baby girl, due in February 2020.
“Even if he recovers as well as planned, Yoh has a long road to recovery ahead. This family will need monetary support for medical bills and family expenses during this time. The baby’s due date is right around the corner!
“The reason I am starting this campaign is because in the few months we’ve known them, they have always embodied a strong spirit and willingness to be help out and be part of the team. He and Missy have stated that they feel they found their home and family in Ozark. Sam and Missy are each other’s Rock, and with him down, I feel that we as a community can be part of that team. Team Yoh!”
