CENTER POINT — The suspect in the Dec. 7 shooting that killed a man at a Shadowood Circle apartment complex in Center Point has been captured following a Crime Stoppers tip.
Cordlin Garrett, 26, was booked into the Jefferson County Jail on Saturday, Dec. 14, and is being held with no bond. He is charged with killing 56-year-old Kenny Hambright following a shooting on Dec. 7, 2019 at Center Point’s Woodside Condominiums.
“Patrol deputies arrived and found a man suffering from a gunshot wound in the parking lot,” Deputy Chief David Agee said of the incident. “The man was transported to the hospital where he later died. Sheriff’s evidence technicians processed the crime scene.”
Hambright lived at the Woodside Condominiums. The apartments are the same place where Kamille “Cupcake” McKinney was killed.
Garrett is charged with murder and firing a weapon into an occupied building. He also faces charges of attempting to elude police and loitering/drug purposes, stemming from a Nov. 8, 2019, incident.
He has a lengthy criminal history with charges ranging from assault, theft, menacing, harassment, drug possession, robbery and resisting arrest.
