TRUSSVILLE – The Hewitt-Trussville girls’ basketball team rallied from 10 points down late in the second quarter on Tuesday to defeat previously undefeated Ramsay, 54-46, which halted a two-game losing streak for the Huskies.
The Huskies move to 9-3 on the season. Ramsay, which had entered the night 11-0, lost just its second game since January of this year. Ramsay had won all but one game by a margin of over 20-points per game. The victory for the Huskies halted what was a rough week last week as the they fell to Pleasant Grove and No. 1 Hoover.
On Tuesday, Hewitt-Trussville fell behind 25-15 as the first half wound down, but the Huskies mounted a 31-4 run to take the lead and place their stamp on the game. The Huskies scored 35 points in the second half.
Hewitt-Trussville was led by Amiya Payne’s 22 points. Erica Jones recorded 11 points (nine in the second half), and April Hooks added six points.
