BIRMINGHAM — The Birmingham Police Department made an arrest in connection to a homicide investigation.
Cornelius Xavier Daniels, 36, of Birmingham, is accused of a deadly shooting that happened at a convenience store on Sunday, Dec. 8, 2019.
Officers first responded to a call of a person shot at Second Court West and 12th Street. When officers arrived, they were told the victim was taken to Princeton Hospital by private vehicle. Investigators later learned he had succumbed to his injury. Clasco Cartez Johnson, 34, of Birmingham, was pronounced dead by hospital staff.
Detectives learned the shooting happened after an argument at the convenience store.
A murder warrant was obtained against Daniels and he was taken into the custody of the Jefferson County Jail. Daniels was given a $600,000 bond.
