BIRMINGHAM — A prolonged firefight erupted on the streets of Birmingham on Monday night sending multiple people to the hospital.
The incident began around 9 p.m. on Monday on Graymont Avenue as two vehicles traveled down the road exchanging gunfire. The vehicles moved onto Fourth Street West and then turned onto Fourth Court West.
The gunfire continued as a Ford Fusion turned into the Elyton public housing community. An occupant in the car was hit several times. The wounded man was taken to UAB Hospital’s Trauma Center. His status is unknown. A second victim sustained a gunshot wound to the back and was being treated at UAB Hostpital.
Authorities are looking for a black Ford Taurus with at least two black males armed with assault weapons.
The suspects remain on the run.
