From The Trussville Tribune staff reports
TRUSSVILLE — The Trussville City School system’s Bus Drivers of the Year were recently named.
George Cook drives for Magnolia Elementary. Cook has been a bus driver for TCS since 2015.
Cherie Billingsley drives for Hewitt-Trussville Middle School. Billingsley has been a bus driver for TCS since 2014.
Drivers are nominated by parents, students and co-workers in short-answer form. The nominations are then read by a committee, which chooses winners.
Dale Posey, the Transportation Coordinator with TCS, said both drivers are examples of the quality of people the school system has to transport students.
“They come to work every day with a great attitude and with the main goal of taking care of students,” said Posey. “They interact and build rapport within their bus and are a positive influence on their students’ lives.”
Cook and Billingsley will represent TCS in the Thomas Love the Bus State Bus Driver of the Year competition in February.
