TUSCALOOSA — Alabama junior quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has set a date to inform the public on his decision to either stay with the Tide for a senior season or enter the 2020 NFL Draft.
Tagovailoa, who dislocated and fractured his hip at Mississippi State on Nov. 16, posted on Twitter on Wednesday afternoon that he will announce his decision this past Monday at 11 a.m. with a joint press conference alongside Alabama head coach Nick Saban.
“I’ll be making my decision on the 6th,” Tagovailoa wrote following Alabama’s victory over Michigan in the Citrus Bowl. “God bless and Roll Tide.”
Tagovailoa finished this season with 2,840 passing yards, 33 touchdowns and three interceptions. In his three years at Alabama, he has thrown for 7,442 yards with 87 touchdowns.
Prior to his season-ending injury, Tagovailoa was considered a high first-round player for the 2020 NFL Draft. Despite the setback, he still is slotted to go high in the first round. Some outlets have him as the third quarterback selected going to either the Los Angeles Chargers or Miami Dolphins.
His surgery was performed on Nov. 18 and is expected to take months to fully recover.
