TUSCALOOSA — A melodramatic scene enveloped Tuscaloosa and the college football world on Monday as Alabama junior quarterback Tua Tagovailoa announced to the planet in a nationally televised press conference that he will forgo his senior season and enter the 2020 NFL Draft.
Tagovailoa finished this season with 2,840 passing yards, 33 touchdowns and three interceptions. In his three years at Alabama, he has thrown for 7,442 yards with 87 touchdowns.
Prior to his season-ending injury, Tagovailoa was considered a high first-round player for the 2020 NFL Draft. Despite the setback, he still is slotted to go high in the first round. Some outlets have him as the third quarterback selected going to either the Los Angeles Chargers or Miami Dolphins.
His surgery was performed on Nov. 18 and is expected to take months to fully recover.
