JEFFERSON COUNTY — A female driver was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Wednesday near Pleasant Grove, according to Chief Deputy David Agee.
“On Wednesday January 15, 2020 at 4:40 p.m., Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a traffic accident on Pleasant Grove Road near Cypress Circle,” Agee said. Deputies arrived and found a vehicle that had left the roadway and went down a ravine suffering heavy damage.”
The vehicle was traveling north on Pleasant Grove Road when it left the roadway. The female driver was the only occupant of the vehicle and was deceased on the scene.
“Family members began to look for the victim when she did not return home on time,” Agee said. “Family members located the vehicle and notified the Sheriff’s Office.”
According to Agee, the preliminary investigation reveals that the driver may have fallen asleep while driving.
The victim’s body was released to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office and her identity has not been announced. No further information is available at this time.
