BIRMINGHAM — One person was killed and one person was wounded in a shooting at a gas station on Pinson Valley Parkway on Sunday, according to Sgt. Rod Mauldin of the Birmingham Police Department.
Mauldin said the call came in at 5:25 p.m. of a person shot at 3901 Pinson Valley Parkway.
When officers arrived, they found one person suffering from a gunshot wound. Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel also arrived on the scene and transported victim to UAB Hospital.
Mauldin said the investigation revealed that there was an altercation that led to an exchange of gunfire. Officers were told that a second victim fled into a nearby wooded area.
Officers from the K9 unit arrived and located the victim in the wooded area who was deceased. The investigation into the incident is still underway.
