PINSON — Pinson Valley High School softball players are working to raise money to play this year. Each player needs about $1,200 to cover the costs of field upkeep, umpires, travel and other expenses, according to Joe Cochran, the executive director of the Pinson Education Foundation.
To raise money, players are hosting a pancake breakfast and selling signs.
The pancake breakfast will be on Saturday, Feb. 15, from 8 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. Tickets are $7 each and all proceeds go to the softball team. The breakfast includes pancakes, orange juice or coffee, and sausage or bacon. Cracker Barrel provided the pancake batter at a discounted price and Food Giant, in Pinson, donated all other items.
Signs for the softball field, the bleachers and the fence that faces Highway 75, can be purchased for $200, $300, or $500, based on the location.
If you are interested in the pancake breakfast or in purchasing a sign, contact Joe Cochran by emailing joecochran@me.com or by contacting a softball player directly.
