TRUSSVILLE — The Trussville Police Department is investigating after receiving a report of a car stolen from a church.
A white 2015 Kia Optima with tag number ELE4AU was taken from the First Baptist Church parking lot on Sunday, Jan. 26, 2020.
First Baptist Church has declined to comment on the incident.
The owner said she took her daughter to choir practice and parked the car around 5 p.m. She said she locked her car but left her purse inside the car. When she got back to her car around 6:15 p.m., her car was gone and a GPS tracker that was on her dash had been thrown onto the road.
The owner said she doesn’t understand how someone could steal a car from a church. She said she has never experienced anything like this and hopes to get back her belongings.
The tag on the car is a personalized Auburn University tag.
