BIRMINGHAM — A man was shot and robbed near Pinson on Thursday morning while he was giving another man a lift from Birmingham.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said in a release that deputies responded to the 5000 block of Bearden Road, near Pinson, on Thursday morning at around 9:37 a.m. to investigate a report of a shooting and robbery.
Upon arriving to the scene, deputies found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound. He proceeded to tell deputies that he had given a ride to a man whom he met near a tattoo parlor off Huffman Road in Birmingham. During the trip, the man in need of a ride assaulted the victim as they drove along a road just off either Highway 75 or Highway 79.
The victim alleged that the other man stole his pistol and proceeded to shoot him with it. The shooter then got out of the vehicle and walked away.
The victim drove off toward Bearden Road where he called 911. He was transported to a local hospital. No update on his injury has been made available.
The shooter is described as skinny white man wearing black clothing.
This incident remains under investigation.
