MONTGOMERY — An Alabama Department of Corrections (ADOC) officer and his cousin are facing drug trafficking charges after an ongoing investigation by the ADOC Investigations and Intelligence Division.
Officer Christian Dashawn Esco, 27, was arrested on Thursday, Jan. 30, 2020. Esco had been assigned to Kilby Correctional Facility and disciplinary actions are now pending against him by ADOC. He was arrested at a Montgomery eatery and is charged with trafficking illegal drugs. Esco had been employed with the ADOC since May of 2017.
Esco’s cousin, Joshua Duane Esco, 27, was also arrested in connection to the investigation. The ADOC said in a press released that Joshua Esco was previously convicted of first-degree robbery, attempted murder and first-degree theft of property. He pleaded guilty to first-degree theft of property and was given a five-year split sentence, serving two years and three months.
Christian and Joshua Esco are now in the Montgomery County Jail on $500,000 bonds.
